Festive Panna Cotta Jars
For cocktail holiday parties where guest are mingling it's best yo keep food selections easy. These easy to make Panna Cotta jars can be made a day ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator up until your party starts. Here is a simple and delicious Panna Cotta recipe for 8.
1 envelope unflavored gelatin (about 1 tablespoon)
2 tablespoons cold water
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
8 small 4oz Mason jars Decorated (see below)
In a small saucepan sprinkle gelatin over water and let stand about 1 minute. Heat mixture over low heat until gelatin is dissolved and remove pan from heat.
In a large saucepan add cream, half and half, and sugar. Bring just to a boil over medium high heat while stirring. Remove from heat and stir in gelatin mixture and vanilla. Divide cream mixture among eight 1/2-cup Mason jars and cool to room temperature. Chill jars covered, at least 4 hours or overnight.
8 - 4 oz mason jars with lids
8 - Fabric or Silk Green Holly leaves
16 - Small 1/4 inch red pom poms
8 - Pieces of twine, each cut to 26 inches
8- Small dessert spoons
Jars can be decorated either before or after refrigerating.
Glue one Holly leaf to each Jar right below where lid screws on.
Glue 2 pom poms on bottom of each leaf.
Tie twine around jar approx 1/3 of the way up from bottom, making 2 full rotations.
Tuck the spoon in under all the twine, placing spoon against jar in an angle. Then tie and make a knot over the spoon.
